If I Could Take It Back...

Some of you may think this is stupid. Some of you may wonder why I don't have something more important to waste my time typing about. Some of you might think I'm being vain...I really don't care. I am upset, its my blog, and I can type what I want!!

I wanted to get my hair highlighted yesterday. When I decide it needs to be done, I want it done right then. My hairstylist that I love and trust completely couldn't get me in until next week. Next week the kids are out of school. I would not have been able to go. It would have been the next week before I could get in. I just couldn't have that. I decided to use my backup stylist. She has highlighted my hair before and she almost always gets me in the same day. How bad could it be??

I straightened my hair yesterday morning, so that is how it was when I got there. She asked me if I wanted her to trim my hair. She said that my top layer had grown out and it was making my hair look heavy. I agreed with her. I said that she could put the layer back in as long as she didn't cut my bangs and I told her I didn't want to lose my length. She said that she could do the layer, or something else, that I think she called 'stacked'. She was explaining it to me, and I wasn't really getting it, but I asked if I would lose my length. She said that I wouldn't. She told me to think about it while she highlighted me.

Fast forward to trim time. I asked her what she was going to do and she said she was gonna stack it. Then she proceeded to cut all of my hair off. What could I say?? It's all gone now. The back of my hair is like 2 inches long when it is straight. Do you know how long that makes it when it is curly?? Yeah, like an inch!! There is nothing sexy about short hair on me. I have been growing my hair out for a really long time. I had it just how I liked it. It looked good curly. It looked good straight. It made me feel good, beautiful, and sexy. That's all gone.

I have tears rolling down my face as I type this. I have cried all morning. I got up early and jumped right in the shower to see what it was going to look like curly. It looks worse than I expected. It looks like a mop. I wish that someone understood me on this. I know it will grow back. My hair is my best feature though. I am really thinking about not leaving the house until it grows back. I had somewhere to go tonight, and I think I'm just going to cancel because I can't handle it.

Be careful about who you let come at you with scissors...

Oh girl, I am so feeling your pain. Seriously, I had this EXACT same thing happen to me. It didn't end up as short as you are describing, but it looked HORRIBLE. I cried and cried and ranted and raved at Eric, who bless his heart -- listened and tried his very best to understand or just keep his mouth shut. I am so sorry this happened to you. All I can say is to just let it grow and do the best you can with what you have. Or I guess you could pay for extensions! Also, as much as you want to kill the person who did this, just remember that people are human and make mistakes. I actually ended up going BACK to the person who did my hair that time. She has not made the same mistake again, but I am much more specific when I go now.

usually when i am getting my hair cut, i watch them, and if i notice they are gettin to scissor happy i stop them. or, i always take a photo of what i want. sometimes that doesnt help, either, as i walked out looking like arnold swarznegger from the walmart hair salon once!i cried for WEEKS! it was actually buzz-cut army style in the back!!! i explained that i wanted it STACKED (imagine that lol).
(i have to use anonymous as i dont have a blog, i was just passing by from looking at someone else's blog).
i dont know how expensive those extensions are, but maybe you could call Sally's and ask. Good luck, and i feel your pain.

The really sad thing is, I DID show her a picture. It was a picture of me the way I like my hair right after it was cut a few times ago.

Another sad thing is when I got home and was thinking about it, I remembered that I let her trim my hair once before. She didn't listen to me then either and cut off more than I asked!!

I have thought about extensions and a wig!! lol I actually ordered a product that is supposed to make your hair grow quicker. I guess I will see.

My hair doesn't look horrible. Actually people keep commenting on how good it looks (when it is straight) and that almost adds insult to injury because it's still not what I wanted.

It was 2001. We call it my KD Lang cut.

It was horrible.

We laugh about it now.

You'll survive.

It could be worse.

It could have been a pair of scissors in one of your kids' eyes.

And, maybe we should start a support group?

Do you think you have any support for a law suit...my husband could use some more work? :)

Helloooo! Michelle, where are you? Is your hair getting better? Hopefully it has grown a bit by now.

Dana (remember her...my little sister) the SAME thing happened to her. What IS stacking, I know layering and that is what I need done bad, it's all gone all one length.

I've got a great other back-up if you want her number. It's unlisted and she has a salon built to her house in Centertown.

She is great and you watch the whole time what she is doing.
